Living Treasures of Los Alamos
Lawry Webb and Alice Robles Mann
Aaron Sampson Goldman

Two months after their marriage on May 28, 1956, the Manns went to Japan for two years. "In Japan, I studied Ikebana," said Alice, whose floral arrangements have graced tables at social events and weddings for nearly five decades. The Manns came to Los Alamos in 1958 where they raised Jacoi, Jocelyn, Arthur and Nathan.

Lawry was chair of the Los Alamos County Council in 1994 "when it voted unanimously to approve a resolution inviting Sarov, Russia to become a Sister City to Los Alamos," he said. Lawry and Alice have traveled to Sarov twice, serving as goodwill ambassadors and interfacing with government leaders and private citizens. They have hosted visiting groups from Sarov countless times.

Lawry, a founder of Leadership Los Alamos, co-chairs the community’s 60th anniversary committee. Alice serves on the Art in Public Places Board.
