Living Treasures of Los Alamos

Although a physicist by training, "I am a generalist by inclination," said Dale. "I am interested in everything, from developing Pajarito Mountain, to tree grafting, to home building, to teaching ballroom dancing for 14 years."

After marrying Molly Murphy on June 5, 1949, the couple arrived in Los Alamos in 1952. Their new hometown was reached via a month-long road trip from Corvallis, Oregon in Dale's truck. After reaching Santa Fe on "Zozobra" night, they found "no vacancy" signs at the motels and once again slept in the truck, near San Ildefonso.

Dale and Molly's children:  Chris, Heidi, and Eric grew up skiing, backpacking, camping, and riding horses.

Dale, who became interested in video production, has utilized some of his more than 50,000 photos to document the history of Pajarito Mountain, and the 50th anniversaries of both the Ski Patrol and the Posse Shack.
