"My involvement with the Los Alamos Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary began after I had retired from LANL in 1990. I began volunteering in the LAMC Lobby Shop and at the information desk," Fran recalled. She became treasurer, first vice president, president and then state president. "Training LAMC's junior volunteers has been especially rewarding and each spring we are involved with the Maternal and Child Care Fair at Ashley Pond," she said.

Fran grew up on a farm near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She married Warren G. Haas and came to Los Alamos to accept a position with the Atomic Energy Commission. After Warren died in a car accident in Pojoaque in 1949, Fran and Walter LaVerne "Vern" Rogers, were married in 1957 and became parents of two sons, Kelly and Rick and a daughter Tracy,

For many years Fran went door to door for the American Cancer Crusade, the Heart Council, and the March of Dimes and she remains active in the American Cancer Society.

She has brought heaping trays of holiday treats to postal employees at Christmas time for 53 years. A Summit Garden Club member since 1963, Fran also works in the Historical Society bookstore "and I tell everybody how wonderful Los Alamos is."
