William A. 'Bill' and Maureen Hudson

On May 27, 1967, Bill Hudson married Maureen Reynolds in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The two, who had met as teenage athletes 25 years earlier in New York City, together have forged a partnership that is legendary in the annals of New Mexico sports history.

Bill, who arrived in Los Alamos in 1949 to teach physical education and coach, and Maureen, a former professional ice skater and physical education instructor, have participated in the Senior Olympics for more than 20 years, winning numerous medals and trophies.

Bill and Maureen's family of Bill, Art, Jan, and Ty, were raised in Los Alamos.

The Los Alamos triathlon, the longest running continuous triathlon in the country, was organized by Bill and Maureen in 1975.

Through the Parks and Recreation Department and YMCA, Maureen taught hockey and ice skating, juggling, and led trips to study fossils. She volunteered her skills to help children prepare for the Special Olympics.

Bill has spoken frequently to students and groups on topics including health and fitness, military and World War II history, and patriotism.
