By May, 2005, Glenn Lockhart was one of ten people in Los Alamos who had recorded more than 5,000
volunteer hours for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Using his years of experience to help
senior citizens and nonprofit organizations, Glenn is a Health Insurance and Benefits Advisory Corps
counselor with the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department. He holds office hours once a
month at the Betty Ehart and White Rock Senior Centers to resolve such problems as health insurance,
social security, and veterans benefits.
Glenn and his wife Marcella moved to Los Alamos in 1964. Here they raised their daughter Margaret, a
1984 Los Alamos High School graduate. In 1981 Glenn earned his master's degree in business
adminstration from UNM and was overseeing recharge programs when he retired from LANL in 1993.
He volunteered to be an organizer for the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO), wrote
proposals, and became LARSO's unpaid acting executive director for nine months. An accomplished
guitarist, Glenn was a musician for IHM Catholic Church for 26 years and he and Living Treasure Benny
Lujan played dance music for Sombrillo, Day Out, and events at both senior centers.
