To know Morrie Pongratz is to know a rocket scientist, truly! And to hear Morrie describe his community involvement is to experience a man who cares deeply about that community and pursues a profound commitment to its well-being, and its youth in particular. An athlete himself, Morrie’s initial involvement was coaching a Young American Football League team. Today, he is the voice of LAHS football, soccer, volleyball and basketball. With a focus on youth, Morrie has served on County Council, the Los Alamos Public School Board of Education, been active in Kiwanis, helped establish the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, and is active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Morrie says coming from a large, extended family and working on farms taught him the strength of working together with lots of debate and collective concerns.
